Arg.) comb. nov., R. stuartii (Hampe) comb. nov., R. subnexa (Stirton) comb. nov., Micarea intersociella (Stirton) Coppins comb. nov. Includes descriptions, figures, and a key for the five included species. This new genus is most closely allied to Pyrrhospora, although it lacks anthraquinones in the apothecia.

  • Fryday, A. M./ G. Kantvilas 2012: Rhizocarpon austroamphibium (Rhizocarpaceae, lichenized Ascomycota), a new species from Tasmania. - Australasian Lichenology 71: 12-17. [RLL List # 228 / Rec.# 33970]
    Abstract: The new species Rhizocarpon austroamphibium Fryday & Kantvilas is described from two alpine localities in south-western Tasmania. It is separated from all other species of the genus by its smooth grey thallus, innate apothecia with a white margin, ±un- branched paraphyses, and large, eumuriform, pigmented ascospores. Rhizocarpon clausum (C.Knight) Zahlbr., described from Queensland, is a synonym of Ramboldia petraeoides (Nyl. ex C.Bab. & Mitt.) Kantvilas & Elix. A key is provided for the species of Rhizocarpon reliably reported from Australia.
