Abstract: 5 figures. 2 tables. [TLC and HPLC investigations showed joint occrrence of planaic acid and 4-O-demethylplanaic acid in all specimens examined. Some specimens of L. lithophila produce this latter substance as the major consitiutent. "Correlations of spore shape, spore volume and chemistry give a clear separation fo L. lithophia. L. lithophilopsis Nyl. and L. plana from an unresolved aggregate including L. leptoboloides Nyl."]
