Abstract: 16 figures. ["Successful resyntheses were achieved between a mycobiont of Cladonia cristatella and 13 isolates of Trebouxia phycobionts." The same mycobiont did not associate with isolated of Pseudotrebouxia or Pleurastrum terrestre. "The mycobiont Lecanora chrysoleuca formed soredia with five isolates of Pseudotrebouxia and with one isolate of Trebouxia. Concentric bodies were seen in the hyphae of C. cristatella synthesized with the phycobionts of Cladonia boryi and Lecidea tumida." The results support the generic specificity of mycobionts for the phycobiont and the role of concentric bodies in development of the lichen thallus or synthesis of lichen substances.]
