D. Ertz, J. Miadlikowska, F. Lutzoni, S. Dessein, O. Raspé, N. Vigneron, V. Hofstetter and P. Diederich 2009: Towards a new classification of the Arthoniales (Ascomycota) based on a three-gene phylogeny focussing on the genus Opegrapha. - Mycological Research 113(1): 141-152. [RLL List # 216 / Rec.# 30738]
Keywords: OPEGRAPHA/ MOLECULAR PHYLOGENETICS/ ARTHONIALES/ BAYESIAN ANALYSES/ ENTEROGRAPHA/ HYBRIDIZATION/ ROCCELLACEAE
Abstract: [Sequences from 43 specimens representing 25 species are included. "Our study revealed the homoplastic nature of morphological characters traditionally used to circumscribe genera within the Arthoniales, such as exciple carbonization and ascomatal structure." Opegrapha and Enterographa appear to be polyphyletic. New: Arthonia calcarea (Turner ex Sm.) Ertz & Diederich comb. nov., and Opegrapha anguinella (Nyl.) Ertz & Diederich comb nov. The use of the names A. atra (Pers.) A. Schneid. and Enterographa zonata (Körb.) Källsten ex Torrente & Egea is suggested.]
